Check each course in UCAS's search tool to see which deadline applies. Most conservatoire undergraduate dance, drama and musical theatre courses also close on 13 January. If you apply through your school or college, follow their earlier deadline: they need time to check your application and add your reference.
The 2027 application fee is £34.50, for up to five choices (six for conservatoires).
Offers and reply deadlines
Universities should aim to send all decisions on applications made by 13 January by 31 March 2027. Any decision still outstanding on Wednesday 12 May 2027 is rejected by default.
Your reply deadline depends on when your last decision arrives:
- All decisions by 31 March: reply by Wednesday 5 May 2027.
- All decisions by 12 May: reply by Wednesday 2 June 2027.
- All decisions by 14 July: reply by Wednesday 21 July 2027.
If you don't reply in time, your application is declined by default. If you have no offers after using all five choices, Extra runs from Thu 25 Feb 2027 to Thu 1 Jul 2027.
Clearing 2027
Clearing opens on Friday 2 July 2027. Applications sent after 6pm on Wednesday 30 June 2027 go straight into Clearing. Most students use it after A-level results day on Thursday 12 August 2027. The last date to add a Clearing choice is Monday 18 October 2027.

What is the UCAS deadline for 2027 entry?
For most undergraduate courses, the deadline is 6pm on Wednesday 13 January 2027 (UK time). For Oxford, Cambridge and most courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine or science, it was 6pm on Thursday 15 October 2026. Your school or college will set an earlier internal deadline so it has time to add your reference.
What does equal consideration mean?
If your completed application, including all your personal details and your academic reference, reaches UCAS by the deadline, it is guaranteed to be considered. After the deadline you can still apply for many courses, but ask the university first whether it still has places, especially for courses with a 15 October deadline.
Can I still apply after 13 January 2027?
Yes, for many courses. Applications received by 6pm on Wednesday 30 June 2027 are sent to universities, but places may already be full, so check with the university first. After that, applications go into Clearing. The final date for 2027 entry applications is 6pm on Thursday 23 September 2027.
How much does a UCAS application cost in 2027?
