How do I get my GCSE results?

Your school or college gives you your results on Thursday 19 August 2027. Each one decides how (in person, by email or online) and at what time, so check with yours before the summer holidays.

If you sat exams as a private candidate, your exam centre gives you your results.

What do GCSE grades 9 to 1 mean?

According to AQA:

  • Grade 9 is the highest grade.
  • Grade 5 is a "strong pass", equivalent to a high C and low B on the old A* to G scale.
  • Grade 4 is what the Government calls a "standard pass".

Unhappy with a grade?

Your school or college can ask the exam board for a review of marking. Each board sets its own deadline. For AQA's June 2027 GCSEs, the deadline is Friday 24 September 2027. AQA's faster priority review is only for AS and A-level.

Pearson Edexcel and OCR publish their deadlines on their own sites (Pearson, OCR). Your exams officer will know them.

Can I resit my GCSEs?

Yes. Most GCSEs can be resat in the next summer series. AQA also runs a November series for GCSE English Language and Maths (see its key dates calendar); ask your school or college which board and series you would use.

The November 2027 dates aren't published yet. We'll add them here when they are. In Northern Ireland, check CCEA.
